The Nike Cortez was Bill Bowerman’s first masterpiece, debuting in 1972 as the lightest, most cushioned shoe on the track. Forty years later, it’s back with classic materials, vibrant colours and modern insignias to choose from.
Choose Classic Materials
The Cortez first launched with a nylon and suede body.
Get the same classic look with the nylon/suede option, or choose allover suede for timeless ’70s style in rich colour combinations.
Get Original Colours
Pine green is back. A 1970s standard for this influential running-turned-street shoe, it makes a bold statement, as do other original colours like Photo Blue.
For the tongue, choose the classic white or make it your own with the tonal option.
Show Your Pride
Unlike the original, the Nike Cortez iD offers 16 country flags for the tongue top iD.

I like the shoe and that it offers flags. I love the US flag. I would also like if it offered the Mexican flag also. I am proud of both sides of my family and would love to show it .thank you.

I made the originals in the 1970's

My company made the original midsole-wedge-outsole units for these shoes in the 1970's, when the actual shoes were made and assembled in exeter, nh. These are truly a classic style and I remember the many variations of this shoe very well. Great vintage stlye items !

They can't create the shoes correctly and they have glue issues. i love the nike cortez but they can't create them correctly

I agree with RubyO Very excited this is my favorite shoe ever. I got my first pair when I was in 5th grade and have had countless pairs since. Can't wait to get my own design, Thanks Nike for making this available! Cortez is the best Nike ever made!

On the nikeid it would be really nice to have the option to choose a slip resistant, oil resistant, non-marking sole. LOVE NIKE just hope I could wear them to work. :(

i have 4 pairs of these already and a pair in transit, its the best thing nike have ever done bringing these back to the market place.
for me its the only shoe i wear im even able to enter night clubs wearing them.
